The Power of Visualisation

Many of us are familiar with the power of visualisation when focusing on achieving a positive outcome. In recent years, this has become a powerful tool in the achievement of peak personal performance.

Our mind primarily thinks in pictures. We are all able to day-dream and use our imagination to conjure up a variety of delightful scenarios where we have total control over the actions and outcome.

Use this technique to visualise achieving your goals:

  • Identify your goal.

  • Take time to picture precisely what you want eg. that new car, a successful outcome from a job interview, asking that special person out on a date.

  • Make your vision crisp, bright, as colourful as possible. Notice the sounds, smells and feelings attached to it. What else is happening around you?

  • Be very specific about each detail. What are you doing? What are you touching? How do you feel? What exact sounds and smells do you notice? Completely immerse yourself in the experience.

  • Make visualising your goal a daily habit.

  • Have a specific time and place to relax, free your mind of all other thoughts and take yourself into the vision you have created of achieving your goal.
